MELOCACTUS - CACTUS PLANT CARE GUIDE:
Upon arrival of your new addition, we recommend that your promptly remove it from the box and unwrap carefully.
Place into a pot that is not much wider than the plant itself. Try to keep the level of the plant the same, usually you can see a colour variation that shows the previous soil level.
Once potted up, keep in a protected position to reduce shock, then gradually make the transition to a sunnier spot.
Withhold watering for at least a week to get them settled into their new home, then follow the guidelines below:
Water Summer: Being a tropical Cactus, Melocactus enjoy more water than other cacti during their summer growth period. In the warmer months, pots will dry out quickly, frequent watering is required.
Water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry completely before watering again.
Water Winter: During the colder months, pots take longer to dry out. Keep very dry during Winter.
Water lightly, then allow soil to dry completely before watering again.
Soil: Free draining cactus or succulent mix is recommended.
Position: Part shade to Full sun. Try to avoid hot midday and afternoon sun in the Summer months as it can burn plants.
Pots: Squat pots are recommended. Use containers with drainage holes, to prevent root rot.
