This sarracenia is a medium growing variety- to approx 30cms tall.

It has beautiful thick red vein pattern on each pitcher.

The best time of year to split up and repot your sarracenia is during it's winter dormancy.

Sarracenia plants grow best in a full sun position, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

They must be kept constantly moist, which is achieved by placing the potted plant into a shallow tray of water and keeping it topped up at all times. Only use rain water, distilled water or water produced through reverse osmosis. Do not feed.

Because they come from low nutrient waterlogged soil they evolved to take up minerals from their prey, so any fertiliser, bottled water, tap water or filtered water will result in a build up of minerals in your plant, which will in turn cause it to deteriorate.

Plants are posted bare rooted- without pot and potting medium.

You will receive one bare rooted rhizome with all leaves trimmed similar to the one pictured below.

The rhizome will have at least one growing point. The size will vary depending on each variety, with some robust varieties having large chunky rhizomes, while others will be smaller.

These plants require very specific potting mix to survive. Please ensure you have the correct potting medium on hand before placing your order.

We use a mixture of 50% Sphagnum peat moss and 50% perlite for all our Sarracenia plants.

Repotting:

Combine peat and perlite in a bucket, then add water and work in well with hands to rehydrate the peat moss.

The medium shouldn't be sloppy wet, just a nice crumbly mixture.

You will know it's ready to use when it goes a darker colour.

Never pot into a dry mix.

Once potted, I like to give a good flush through until the water runs clear, then pop it into a shallow tray of water.

Then just keep it topped up with water, and sit back and watch it grow.
